Design Inside Film

ALEJANDRO GIMENEZ

Alejandro Giménez is a renowned Spanish architect and interior designer whose work has redefined what luxury residential design means on the Costa del Sol. Leading an international studio based in Estepona, near Marbella, Alejandro has built a reputation for creating premium residential spaces that are as culturally rich as they are visually compelling; spaces rooted in place, inspired by the world, and designed for the soul. His work is the product of a rare and deeply personal creative vision: one that weaves together the warmth of Andalusian-Mediterranean tradition, the restraint and spiritual clarity of Japanese design, and the bold, elemental power of Mexican architecture. Alejandro’s design philosophy is inseparable from his life. His deep engagement with Japanese aesthetics was shaped by his wife’s heritage; a personal connection that brought him not just to the visual language of Japan, but to its underlying values: stillness, simplicity, and the profound beauty of the understated. His fascination with Mexico came through a different kind of revelation; the work of Luis Barragán, the Mexican architect whose use of colour, light, and silence transformed modernism into something deeply human and emotional. Barragán’s influence runs through Alejandro’s work. At the heart of Alejandro’s practice is a belief that a home should be a pleasure to live in and somewhere to look forward to returning to after a hard day’s work. „To create a pure, serene and relaxing space that is a pleasure to live in and somewhere to look forward to returning to after a hard day’s work,”  is his guiding motto, and it shapes every decision made in his studio. In a design world often drawn to the spectacular and the complex, Alejandro Giménez takes the opposite position. For him, true luxury is purity. It is the quiet confidence of a space that gives you everything you need.
